Overview

As a cultural melting pot, Morocco is an exotic destination that offers fascinating history, stunning architecture, outstanding shopping and mouthwatering cuisine. This 9-day private tour of Morocco’s most captivating cities travels through the colourful dye pits and tanneries of Fes, the bustling souks of Marrakech and the laid-back seaside streets of Essaouira. You will stay in a combination of comfortable hotels and riads – traditional Moroccan homes, as well as peaceful havens, hidden away in the medinas (old towns) of Morocco’s cities.

Itinerary

DAY 1: CASABLANCA
On arrival at Casablanca Airport, you will be met and transferred by private vehicle to your hotel. Overnight HYATT REGENCY.

DAY 2: FES
This morning you will be transferred by private vehicle to Meknes, often referred to as the ‘Versailles of Morocco’ with its opulent palaces of Sultans past. You will also visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis – one of the best-preserved Roman towns in North Africa, before continuing on to Fes. Two nights RIAD FES. (B)

DAY 3: FES
Today you will be taken on a full day tour of Fes with an English-speaking local guide. In the morning explore the ancient streets and mosques of the World Heritage listed Medina of Fes el-Bali (OId Fes). Visit the Dar Batha Museum, a wonderfully maintained 18th century traditional riad and discover the mellah (Jewish district) of Fes. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to explore the newest part of the city, trendy Fes J’did, a stark contrast to the historical sites of the morning. (B)

DAY 4: MARRAKECH
After breakfast, head to bustling Marrakech. On the way you will pass through the Middle Atlas region which offers spectacular scenic views and rustic Berber villages, some of which you will have the opportunity to stop at and discover before continuing onto Marrakech. Three nights VILLA DES ORANGERS. (B)

DAY 5: MARRAKECH
Today enjoy a full day tour of Marrakech with an English-speaking local guide visiting the 12th century Koutoubia Mosque, the labyrinthine El Bahia Palace and Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. In the afternoon, spend time wandering the colourful stalls of Morocco’s largest souk. (B)

DAY 6: MARRAKECH
The day is at your leisure to explore Marrakech. (B)

DAY 7: MARRAKECH – ESSAOUIRA
After breakfast, transfer to the medieval seaside town of Essaouira. Experience its World Heritage listed fortified medina with its white-washed and blue-shuttered houses, colonnades, thuya wood workshops, art galleries and mouth-watering seafood. Two nights PALAIS HEURE BLEUE. (B)

DAY 8: ESSAOUIRA
Today will be spent at your leisure in Essaouira. (B)

DAY 9: MARRAKECH
This morning, you will be transferred to Marrakech Airport for your onward flight. (B)

Palais Heure Bleue

Located in the picturesque, historic port city of Essaouira, the Palais Heure Bleue is superbly located minutes away from the beach and city surrounds. The luxurious décor is testament to the Arab, African and European influences on Essauoira’s history. There are 33 rooms in total over 4 floors and the hotel’s facilities include a rooftop swimming pool, billiards room and a cinema.
