About this trip
MD Richard Ruskin guides his favourite event of the year – the annual Wildebeest Migration. Having guided during the Migration every year for the last 17 years, Richard can attest to it being one of the most exciting events in the world. Visit some of the best areas for game viewing on this migration safari. This includes Samburu, Lake Nakuru, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti and the Masai Mara. All these areas make for astonishing places to witness the Migration. Furthermore, accommodation comprises of four and five star luxury tented camps, lodges and hotels. Suited to people of all ages, families and groups, this is a wonderful way to see the Wildebeest Migration. On arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. Two-nights at FAIRMONT THE NORFOLK HOTEL where you will be met by Richard Ruskin.
After breakfast you will be taken on a tour of the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Karen Blixen Museum and the Giraffe Centre, with lunch at Tamambo Restaurant. (B, L)
Day 3Nairobi – Lake Nakuru
This morning you will be met at reception and begin your safari with a drive to Lake Nakuru, arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, you will be taken on an afternoon game drive in the park, known for its rhino population, Defassa waterbuck, lion and aquatic birds. Two nights at SAROVA LION HILL LODGE.(B, L, D)
Day 4Lake Nakuru
Depart on morning and afternoon game drives in the Lake Nakuru National Park, returning to the lodge for lunch and dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 5Lake Nakuru – Samburu
After breakfast, you will continue your safari driving from Sarova Lion Hill Lodge to SAMBURU INTREPIDS TENTED CAM (approximately 6.5 hours). (B, L, D)
Day 6Samburu National Reserve
Today, you will be taken on morning and afternoon game drives, experiencing the unique landscape and wildlife of the semi desert region. (B, L, D)
Day 7Samburu – Arusha
After breakfast, you will be transferred by light aircraft to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport where you will check in for your scheduled flight from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro Airport. On arrival you will be met and transferred by road to the ARUSHA HOTEL for your overnight stay. (B, L)
Day 8Arusha – Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater
Today you will be driven to Lake Manyara for a game drive, followed by lunch at Lake Manyara Serena. In the afternoon you will continue your drive to Ngorongoro. For the next two nights you will stay at NGORONGORO SOPA LODGE. (B, L, D)
Day 9Ngorongoro Crater
This morning you will descend into the crater for a full day of game viewing and a picnic lunch. In the late afternoon you will visit a Masai Village. (B, L, D)
Day 10Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park
Today is a long but exciting day with most of the time driving through the Serengeti to MBALAGETI SERENGETI which is located in the western corridor. You will have a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive en route to the lodge. Many clients say this is one of the highlights of the

Day 11Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will depart on a full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. This park is known as the world’s last great wildlife refuge, home to 35 species of plains game and 500 birds. Overnight at MBALAGETI SERENGETI.

Day 12Serengeti National Park – Masai Mara
This morning you will be transferred to the Grumeti Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Tarime. On arrival you will be taken by road to Migori connecting with your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival, you will be met and transferred by road to Kichwa Tembo in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara Game Reserve. For the next three nights, you will stay at KICHWA TEMBO TENTED CAMP. (B, L, D)
Days 13 – 14Masai Mara
Two days spent in the Masai Mara game viewing with the option of adding a balloon safari (additional cost). The Masai Mara is host to the most spectacular array of wildlife with 320 square kilometres of open savannah, woodlands and tree-lined rivers creating an eco system which supports huge numbers of bird and mammal species. It is here that the Wildebeest Migration should be in full swing, providing opportunities to see them amassing as well as crossing the river. (B, L, D)
Day 15Masai Mara – Nairobi
Check out after breakfast and transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Nairobi Wilson Airport. On arrival you will be transferred back to FAIRMONT THE NORFOLK HOTEL for your overnight stay. In the evening there will be a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D)
Day 16Depart Nairobi
After breakfast you will be transferred to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta airport for your onward flight. (B)
