Mount Illimani provides a dramatic backdrop to the world’s highest capital city, La Paz, situated at 3600m. The city offers a fascinating insight into Bolivia’s colonial past; through its architecture as well as cobbled streets and colourful markets. Additionally, La Paz’s indigenous women wearing traditional clothing highlight Bolivia’s heritage and culture.
On arrival at La Paz Airport you will be transferred to your hotel.
Day 2La Paz
Today you will be met at your hotel for a tour to visit the famous Witches Market, the colonial Church of San Francisco and crafts shops on Sagarnaga Street, before seeing the Metropolitan Cathedral, Government Palace and Parliament buildings. You will continue onto the famous Jaen Street, a colonial neighbourhood with many museums, and then to the replica of the Semisubterranean temple of Tiwanaku Culture. The tour ends with a visit to the spectacular Valley of the Moon, where you will have the opportunity to take a short hike and visit a ceramic workshop. (B)
