One of Peru’s best kept secrets is Chachapoyas. Hidden in one of the most remote corners of the high Andes, Chachapoyas boasts innumerable and priceless archaeological ruins. When adventurers wish to venture completely off the beaten track; their destination of choice is Chachapoyas. Imagine exploring a beautifully preserved ancient fortress, hiking through a luscious cloud forest and ending at one of the highest waterfalls, then this is what you can expect on this tour.
After your morning transfer from Chiclayo to Chachapoyas, you will travel through one of the driest deserts, then head into the Andes, before descending to the Marañón River and finally ascend via the great Utcumbamba canyon. Overnight at your HOTEL. (L)
Day 2Gocta Falls
Depart to Cocachimba, and start the hike to Gocta waterfall through a dense and colourful rainforest, where you can enjoy the view before heading back to your HOTEL. (B, L)
Today you will head to Kuélap. The towering walls and the hundreds of roundhouses, encircled by a cloud forest (3,000m above sea level) is an amazing site. (B, L)
Day 4Chachapoyas – Chiclayo
Today, depart Chachapoyas by road, and return to Chiclayo before a late afternoon transfer to your hotel (additional cost) or the airport (B)
