Overview

Explore three spectacular and diverse regions of Botswana on this 9-day safari to Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, Khwai Private Reserve and Okavango Delta. Be guided through the expansive plains of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park with an experienced Bushman tracker; discover the diverse landscapes of the Khwai Private Reserve and the sprawling floodplains of the Okavango Delta. Seek out a diverse range of wildlife including elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog, cheetah and sable antelope on game drives and from mokoros (dugout canoes).

Itinerary

DAY 1: ARRIVE MAUN
On arrival in Maun you will be met and transferred by road to your lodge. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Two nights at MENO A KWENA. (L, D)

DAYS 2: MAKGADIKGADI PANS NATIONAL PARK
Spend today on game drives, seeking out wildlife such as zebra, cheetah, wild dog and jackal. Alternatively, enjoy cultural safaris and walks with the local Bushmen. Cruise along the Boteti River and view wildlife at eye-level from a floating game-viewing hide. (B, L, D)

DAY 3: KHWAI PRIVATE RESERVE
This morning you will be transferred by road to Maun, where you will board a light aircraft to Khwai Private Reserve. Three nights at LITTLE SABLE. (B, L, D)

DAYS 4 – 5: KHWAI PRIVATE RESERVE
Enjoy two days here exploring the reserve on morning, afternoon and evening game drives. Discover the waterways of Khwai on a mokoro or boat and visit a ground level hide for some up-close wildlife viewing. (B, L, D)

DAY 6: OKAVANGO DELTA
This morning you will be transferred by light aircraft to your lodge. Three nights at DUKE’S CAMP. (B, L, D)

DAYS 7 – 8: OKAVANGO DELTA
Spend two days enjoying the activities offered at the camp. Explore the Delta on game drives where you will have the chance to see lion, leopard, elephant, hippo and the rare sitatunga antelope. This area is also home to a diverse array of birdlife including the slaty egret, Pel’s fishing owl and the African skimmer. Explore the waterways by boat or mokoro and enjoy a sundowner as the sun sets over the stunning channels and plains. (B, L, D)

DAY 9: OKAVANGO DELTA – MAUN
This morning you will be transferred by light aircraft to Maun Airport. (B)

Duke's Camp

Mapula Lodge

Mapula Lodge is a community-based safari lodge located in the far northwest of the Okavango Delta. The lodge has nine canvas-and-thatch bedroom tents with safari-chic finishing touches including rich Kilims on the floors, polished butler trays and brass lanterns. The main area of Mapula Lodge is open plan with a comfortable lounge and dining area, small library, and curio shop, and a large deck where you can sit in the shade of an ancient African ebony. There is also a small pool and bush bar.

Little Sable

Soak in views of the rich grasslands and roaming plains at Little Sable, situated in Khwai Private Reserve. Dense with game, this area offers the perfect Botswana safari experience and luxurious accommodation to accompany it. Meno a Kwena

Meno A Kwena, meaning “teeth of the crocodile”, borders Makgadikgadi Pans National Park in close proximity to Nxai Pan National Park. The camp is situated on tribal land and has been built on a cliff edge overlooking the Boteti River. Meno A Kwena offers eight Meru-style safari tents, all stylishly furnished. Each tent features a private sitting area, which offers a beautiful view over the Boteti River. The main lodge has a dining area, bar and lounge with small library and features many interesting artefacts and photographs giving it a very personal feel. The river attracts many zebra and wildebeest herds during the dry season (June to Oct) offering excellent game viewing from the comfort of the camp.
